“Music has always been my first love. Capturing these incredible moments is my passion.”

Alan Welding is a Pittsburgh-based concert, editorial, and commercial photographer known for capturing the intensity, atmosphere, and emotion of live performance. With years of experience photographing nationally touring artists, arena productions, sporting events, and commercial clients, Alan has developed a distinctive style that blends cinematic energy with authentic storytelling.

Currently serving as a house photographer for PPG Paints Arena through OVG 360, Alan has also worked with Live Nation, AEG Presents, and as a house photographer for Stage AE. His photography has been published in Billboard, The Sun Sentinel, Pittsburgh Press, and Tribune-Review.

In addition to live music photography, Alan’s portfolio includes corporate work, actor and artist portraits, sports photography, and branding imagery for businesses and creatives. Whether shooting from the photo pit of a sold-out arena or creating polished commercial content, his focus remains the same: producing images that feel immersive, dynamic, and memorable.

Alan is also the former owner and publisher of Pittsburgh Music Magazine, where he combined his passion for music journalism with photography and artist coverage throughout the Pittsburgh music scene.

Before transitioning full-time into creative and entrepreneurial work, Alan spent 30 years as a high school English educator in the Chartiers Valley School District. He holds a Master’s Degree in Secondary English Education from Duquesne University and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh.

Today, Alan continues to build a body of work centered on live energy, visual storytelling, and authentic human moments — both on and off the stage.
